Camcorders have changed the way we live, literally allowing us to capture events that are one of a kind.  They have become modern story telling devices.  You can find camcorders on sale all over the internet, so why pay full price.  Get out there and do your research and i promise you will find your perfect memory recording device at a price you can afford.

Of course you have many models to choose from and a price range that is wide.  Camcorders on sale can range from as little as $100 and as much or greater than $5000 for professional models.  Most of the electronics companies make a wide variety of camcorders, including Sony, Panasonic and Canon.  Lets take a look at some of the options that you will find in the world of camcorders.

There are hard drive, optical(disc), flash camcorders,  and mini dv camcorders and a huge range of quality and features.

Hard drive Camcorders:  The latest type of digital camcorders make use of internal hard drives to hold the video directly. These use no external media whatsoever, and allow video to be copied directly to a hard-disk rather than a disc or tape. This benefit has its limitations.For one, there is a limited amount of storage, so you can’t capture footage of longer than the storage capacity. You must empty the hard drive or delete some scenes.

Optical(disc)dvd camcorders:  For anyone who is looking to get a camcorder that records on a disc which can be played back right away in your dvd player these are suitable for you.  The issue is,  the ability to edit the footage is fairly limited.  For the technically challenged this could possibly be the type of camcorder for you.

Flash storage camcorders:  If you want small size these are your best bet.  And although the issues with storage are similar they are slightly more limited.  But what you lose in storage you make up for in size, and storage is increasing quickly.

Mini dv camcorders:  If you want quality editable footage, these are the type of camcorder you will want to look for.  I personally own an HD mini dv camcorder, and have been very impressed by the quality of the footage.  But with the improvements in the other types, they may be a thing of the past sometime soon.
