I’m a novice independent filmmaker getting ready to complete my first horror movie script, and I need advice on a quality HD camcorder to shoot the movie. My budget is around 8K for the camcorder and need for it to handle fight scenes and at least one car chase. In other words, lots of fast paced action needs to be captured on video. Any suggestions would be helpful. I’ve heard the Sony EX1R is a good choice and also the new JVC 250U might be a good choice, but i’m open for suggestions.

I like this line-up, should have good re-sale too, if needed.

If you are looking to do professional HD video, go with the Sony EX1. Great camera, great choice. I love that camera. Just look up some test footage on Vimeo.com. It should be a pretty clear choice. Also you can do a lot of fast paced stuff with it to if you want/need to. Also if you don’t end up getting that one you might look at the Sony Z7. Also a nice choice. Def. check that one out too, that might be a good choice
